TRAINING PROGRAM

For in-company training, the proposed program is a preliminary suggestion and can be freely adapted to the individual needs of the company.

The following program is indicative (the division into days is arbitrary) and the trainer adapts the course of the training to the specific characteristics of the group. Individual topics may be discussed at a different time or in a different form than indicated in the plan.

Exercises:

Introduction to the pillars of 5S, the philosophy behind 5S and workplace organization in line with its principles, and the benefits of implementing 5S for the company, employees, and customers.

Module 2

PROCEDURE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE 5S SYSTEM IN A COMPANY

Content:

  • Stage I (Steps 1–2) – Preceding the implementation of the 5S program
  • Stage II – Training
  • Stage III (Steps 3–7) – Implementation of the individual 5S pillars
  • Stage IV (Step 8) – Rolling out the 5S program across the entire facility

Exercises:

A practical overview of the 8 steps of 5S implementation in a company, addressing the questions: Why? Who? When? How? For what purpose?

Introduction to the principles of selecting a pilot area

Practical training on how to initiate and conduct the first implementation audit (including a list of 30 issues, an improvement plan, and photographic documentation)

PILLAR 1 – SORTING

Content:

  • Definition, essence, and importance of sorting
  • Stages of the red tag strategy
  • Quarantine of items marked with a red tag

PILLAR 2 – SYSTEMATIZATION

  • Systematization as the foundation of standardization
  • Guiding principles
  • Visualization

  • Selecting appropriate locations and marking them

  • Organizing the workstation

PILLAR 3 – CLEANING

  • Definition, essence, and importance of cleaning
  • Cleaning as inspection

How to carry out inspection and maintenance during cleaning

Developing a cleaning and inspection standard

PILLAR 5 – SELF-DISCIPLINE

Methods and tools for maintaining self-discipline – slogans, posters, newsletters, 5S maps, and 5S instructions

Documenting and auditing the implementation of the “Self-Discipline” pillar

Module 4

5S EXERCISES

Content:

  • Exercise related to Stage I
  • Exercise related to Stage III

Exercises:

Defining the scope and conducting a practical initial audit

Simulation of selected tools and principles from all five 5S pillars (including: red tag design, location visualization, development of cleaning and inspection standards, audit checklist, and one-point 5S lessons – instructions)
