Weibull distribution – sustainability of a product assessment tool based on a representative sample

The “Reliability Analysis Using, Among Others, Weibull Statistics” training is a course for individuals who want to learn the practical application of reliability assessment methods in real production environments. You will become familiar with key reliability evaluation techniques and learn how to implement them and interpret the results. You will gain the skills to analyze statistical data, estimate reliable operating time, and apply selected methods in practice, enabling you to use this knowledge effectively in your daily work.

TRAINING PROGRAM

For in-company training, the proposed program is a preliminary suggestion and can be freely adapted to the individual needs of the company.

The following program is indicative (the division into days is arbitrary) and the trainer adapts the course of the training to the specific characteristics of the group. Individual topics may be discussed at a different time or in a different form than indicated in the plan.

Module 1

FUNDAMENTALS OF RELIABILITY ANALYSIS

Content:

  • Reliability analysis – why statistics are necessary
  • What is reliability?
  • Basic reliability definitions (including MTBF, MTTF, R(t), component reliability, system reliability, reliability index)

Module 2

STATISTICS IN RELIABILITY ANALYSIS – INTRODUCTION

Content:

  • Parameters vs. estimators (statistics) in the analysis of probability distributions
  • Significance level, confidence level, prediction interval, tolerance interval – meaning and practical application
  • Probability distributions – overview (including Weibull, normal, and exponential distributions)
  • The bathtub curve (as well as the Weibull, de Moivre, and Makeham–Gompertz mortality laws) in reliability studies

Module 3

DATA ANALYSIS IN RELIABILITY STUDIES

Content:

  • Types of data: complete data, right-censored data, left-censored data, and interval-censored data
  • Fitting distributions to collected data (including testing goodness-of-fit to the Weibull distribution)
  • Preparing data for analysis – describing time to failure, number of failures, and failure-free operating time
  • Interpretation of Weibull distribution parameters: Shape and Scale
  • Interpretation of basic reliability plots: Probability Plot, Survival Plot, Hazard Function
  • Determining (predicting) failure rates at specified times or operating cycles
  • Estimating reliability using R(t)
  • Data analysis in the “Nevada” format

Module 4

PRACTICAL EXAMPLES OF RELIABILITY ANALYSIS

Content:

  • Building an input data file (describing operating time and censoring)
  • Identifying the distribution that best fits the collected data
  • Preliminary data analysis – making decisions about further steps
  • Statistical analysis of reliability results, including estimating the number of failures within a specified period (or number of operating cycles)

Module 5

METHODS AND TESTS SUPPORTING RELIABILITY ANALYSIS

Content:

  • FMEA analysis and its relationship to reliability studies
  • Fundamentals of Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • HASS, ESS, HALT, FMVT, MEOST, and QALT tests – overview of applications

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

We ensure that a significant part of the training consists of exercises and hands-on workshops, as this helps participants better retain newly acquired knowledge.

During this training, practical activities include:

  • Analysis of the goodness-of-fit of probability distributions

  • Analysis of practical reliability charts

  • Estimation of failure rates over a specified operating time or number of cycles

After the training, each participant will receive a certificate confirming completion of the course.
