SPC – Statistical Process Control

SPC – Statistical Process Control

The training is a very intensive class, with lots of exercises. During 8 hours, successive SPC tools are presented, which are then used to analyse the prepared data. The trainees design and use various control cards, assess process capability using Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk indicators, and test the conformity of the data to a normal distribution.

A great advantage of the training is that all the steps of the work that should be carried out in the correct introduction of SPC are presented and practised at the training.

SKILLS THE PARTICIPANT WILL GAIN

  • Interpreting the principles of Statistical Process Control in a production environment
  • Selecting appropriate control charts according to data type and process characteristics
  • Creating control charts for variable and attribute data
  • Distinguishing common causes from special causes of process variation
  • Interpreting signals of process instability based on control chart rules
  • Assessing process capability using Cp, Cpk, Pp, and Ppk indices
  • Analyzing trends and patterns of variation in process data
  • Formulating improvement actions based on SPC analysis results

BENEFITS FOR COMPANIES

  • Greater stability of production processes through systematic monitoring of variation
  • Reduction of scrap and complaint costs through early detection of undesirable trends
  • Faster response to deviations before they escalate into serious quality problems
  • Better use of process data for operational decision-making
  • Consistent approach to process supervision across the entire organization
  • Improved readiness for customer audits and system requirements in the area of process control

TRAINING PROGRAM

For in-company training, the proposed program is a preliminary suggestion and can be freely adapted to the individual needs of the company.

The following program is indicative (the division into days is arbitrary) and the trainer adapts the course of the training to the specific characteristics of the group. Individual topics may be discussed at a different time or in a different form than indicated in the plan.

Module 1

CONTENT:

  • Introduction to the use of statistics in industry.
  • Statistics and the quality management system.
  • Differences between quality control and process control.
  • SPC and standards (PN, ISO, AIAG, CQI-25, industry standards).
  • ISO 7870-2 standard – the basis of SPC.

Module 2

CONTENT:

  • Basic statistical measures used in SPC.
  • Stratification and Paynter Chart.
  • The use of the histogram for process evaluation.
  • Special and random process disturbances – where they come from and how to identify them.

EXERCISES:

Determination of basic statistical measures.

Creating a histogram for sample data.

Analysing process behaviour using histograms – practical cases.

Module 3

CONTENT:

  • Normal distribution and the ‘3s’ rule.
  • Why is the normal distribution so important in SPC?
  • Methods for testing the normality of data (analytical and graphical tests).
  • Assessing process defectiveness using the normal distribution.

EXERCISES:

Testing the normality of a distribution (graphical method).

Assessment of the type of distributions based on probability plot – practical cases.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

During the training, more than a dozen exercises are carried out, including: calculating basic process statistics, testing the normality of the distribution of results, creating and analysing control sheets, calculating and analysing process and machine capability (e.g. Cp and Cpk).

Participants will receive worksheets that they can later use in the application of statistical process control in their company.

After the training, each participant will receive a certificate of training.

Those responsible for using and developing the use of statistical methods for process control. Technologists, process engineers and quality management representatives.
