MSA – Measurement System Analysis in accordance with AIAG and VDA 5 requirements

MSA – Measurement System Analysis in accordance with AIAG and VDA 5 requirements

MSA – Measurement System Analysis in accordance with AIAG and VDA 5 requirements

  • Process improvement
  • DURATION: 2 days / 16 hours

The training aims to present the principles of conducting MSA in numerical and alternative (attribute) assessment and to discuss how to use MSA on specific, practical examples. Classes take the form of workshops with lots of exercises and examples from various industries.

Participants will gain a working knowledge of how to use particular methods and tools in the evaluation of the quality of measurements.

The basic goals of the training are:

  • Presentation of the principles of conducting MSA with numerical and attribute assessment.
  • Overview of how to use MSA in the company based on AIAG and VDA 5 standards.
  • Overview of how to conduct an MSA analysis on actual measurements carried out in the company.

Information about the program

  • Basics of using statistics to assess the quality of measurements
  • ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements in the field of measurement management
  • AIAG and VDA 5 requirements – similarities and differences
  • Basic statistical measures

Determination of basic statistical measures;
The use of the 3s principle in the analysis of measurement systems.

  • Resolution of measuring instruments – selection rules according to AIAG and VDA 5
  • The effects of wrong selection of the device – effects in the field of SPC and testing the capabilities of processes and machines
  • MSA results and changes in the control process

Resolution of measuring instruments – “gray zones”;
Selection of a measuring instrument for the purposes of quality control and SPC.

  • Repeatability and reproducibility of measurements – definitions
  • Stability and linearity studies
  • Instrument testing – Cg / Cgk, QMP / QMS ratio (VDA 5, Ford, Bosch, Mercedes and other methods)
  • Type II procedures (RM and ARM methods) – operator and instrument testing
  • MSA test with no operator influence on the measurement
  • Control Effectiveness Test for Destructive Testing
  • Advanced methods (including ANOVA) – overview

Capacity analysis of the measuring instrument (Cg / Cgk);
Analysis of the measurement system for numerical measurements based on the ARM method;
Analysis of the results of a full MSA study;
Measurement system analysis for automatic and destructive measurements.

  • The essence of attribute checks
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of measurements – E.
  • Calculating false rate and miss rate (FR, FA)
  • Short method
  • Signal Detection Method (SDM)
  • KAPPA as a measure of operator compliance in alternative controls

Analysis of the control system with attribute assessment based on the short method, signal detection method and cross-section tables (KAPPA);
Analysis of MSA results for attribute assessment.

Conducting MSA for selected inspections carried out at the customer’s site

Additional information:

We make sure that a large part of the training is devoted to exercises and practical workshops – then it is easier for training participants to remember new information for them.

After the training, each participant will receive a certificate confirming completion of the training

Employees of quality departments responsible for the organization and supervision of measurement systems. Quality management representatives.

People responsible for quality planning and building control plans as well as verifying the effectiveness of controls.
