The goal of the training “FMEA – Responsibilities of Management and Leadership” is to discuss the key aspects related to the responsibility of the management team for conducting FMEA analyses in accordance with the AIAG & VDA Edition 1 manual.

Participants will learn best practices for team collaboration, criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of actions, and ways to use the analysis to optimize processes and reduce costs. The program is enriched with concrete case studies.

TRAINING PROGRAM

For in-company training, the proposed program is a preliminary suggestion and can be freely adapted to the individual needs of the company.

The following program is indicative (the division into days is arbitrary) and the trainer adapts the course of the training to the specific characteristics of the group. Individual topics may be discussed at a different time or in a different form than indicated in the plan.

Module 1

DESIGN AND PROCESS FMEA – OVERVIEW OF THE SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Content:

  • FMEA and the quality management system – the importance of risk management.

  • “Failure Mode” and different approaches to defining the analysis scope.

  • “Effect Analysis” – analysis of all customer groups.

  • The role of FMEA in management reviews.

 

Module 2

FMEA TEAMWORK – TASKS OF MANAGEMENT

Content:

  • FMEA software – are new investments necessary?

  • Personnel competence requirements – key changes (e.g., moderator role).

  • Resources needed for FMEA teams – time, documentation, decision-making.

  • 7-step FMEA process based on the AIAG & VDA handbook.

  • Step 1 – management responsibility, legal aspects, and know-how protection.

  • Step 4 – business context relevant to process owners.

  • Step 5 – S, O, D tables tailored to the company’s needs; new AP indicator (replacing RPN).

  • Top management accountability in light of new AIAG & VDA requirements.

 

Module 3

LINKS BETWEEN FMEA AND THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Content:

  • FMEA effectiveness – FMEA and quality cost analysis.

  • Launching new products and processes (e.g., per APQP) supported by FMEA.

  • FMEA as a “motivator” for data analysis using SPC, MSA, and other statistical methods.

  • The role of internal audits in FMEA development.

  • RPFMEA as a method for increasing the effectiveness of risk assessment.

 

Module 4

BENEFITS OF FMEA – CASE STUDIES

Content:

  • Case studies in the area of PFMEA.

  • Case studies in the area of MFMEA.

  • How FMEA revives process discussions – real examples.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

After completing the training, each participant will receive a certificate confirming participation.

Individuals responsible for risk management and approving FMEA analyses, as well as managers from the following departments: process engineering, customer/process quality, product engineering, and production.
We also welcome participants in the roles of technical or operations directors.
