DOE – Design of Experiment *computer-based training

The training covers key topics related to Design of Experiments (DoE) — from theoretical foundations, through selection and design of experimental layouts, to data analysis and interpretation.

Participants will learn the principles of randomization, blocking, and replication, develop experimental designs, and interpret results using Minitab software.

The workshop component enables participants to practice the complete DoE process based on real-life examples.

SKILLS THE PARTICIPANT WILL GAIN

  • Planning DOE experiments using FRD trees and mapping techniques (mind map, process map and product map)
  • Designing experiments in “noisy” environments (trials, repetitions, blocking)
  • Analysis of experimental results using tools such as Geo plot, Main effect, Interaction plot, Normal plot and Pareto, with emphasis on drawing practical conclusions
  • Use of Minitab software for statistical analysis of experimental data

BENEFITS FOR COMPANIES

  • More effective experiment planning, leading to better use of resources for more effective solving of engineering and production problems

TRAINING PROGRAM

For in-company training, the proposed program is a preliminary suggestion and can be freely adapted to the individual needs of the company.

The following program is indicative (the division into days is arbitrary) and the trainer adapts the course of the training to the specific characteristics of the group. Individual topics may be discussed at a different time or in a different form than indicated in the plan.

Module 1

INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS

Content:

  • Specific characteristics of DoE (process characteristics, measurement issues)
  • Experimental methods overview
  • When to apply Design of Experiments
  • How to set up an experimental design
  • Traditional problem-solving versus DoE approach

Exercises:

  • Analysis of differences between traditional problem-solving and Design of Experiments
  • Practical identification of the necessary steps before starting an experiment

Module 2

BASIC TOOLS FOR DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS

Content:

  • Tools used in experiment planning
  • FRD tree
  • Geo plot
  • Main effects and interaction plots
  • Contour plot
  • Normal plot
  • Pareto chart
  • Process and product maps
  • Statistical model
  • Mind map

Exercises:

  • Practical application of basic DoE tools – sequence of use, interpretation of results, and use of supporting tools to identify key factors for analysis

Module 3

NOISE IN EXPERIMENTS

Content:

  • Repeats and replicates
  • Randomization
  • Why and how to block noise factors

Exercises:

  • Identification and elimination of noise factors – practical explanation of their impact on experiments and methods for minimizing variability in planning and analysis

Module 1

PROCEDURE DURING DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS

Content:

  • Step-by-step approach to planning and conducting an experiment based on practical examples

Exercises:

  • Practical execution of the full experimental cycle — from design, through implementation, to data analysis — illustrated with a simple example

Module 2

INTRODUCTION TO ANALYSIS

Content:

  • Demonstration of Minitab software capabilities
  • Experiment planning using the software
  • Data analysis within the software environment

Exercises:

  • Familiarization with DoE analysis functions in Minitab
  • Practical use of the software tools during the training

Module 3

DOE ANALYSIS IN PRACTICE

Content:

  • Execution of training tasks — from planning, through implementation, to analysis
  • Application of the PDCA cycle in DoE and presentation of results

Exercises:

  • Practical verification and consolidation of theoretical knowledge gained during the training through hands-on task execution

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

During the training, participants work on computers, allowing them to explore the software’s capabilities in real time. The trainer is available to each participant to answer questions that arise throughout the session.

The training includes numerous practical exercises and workshop activities.

The detailed scope of the training can be agreed upon after consultation with the interested company.

After completing the training, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.
