AIAG and VDA experts released together a draft of long-awaited FMEA handbook. The changes are revolutionary. The primary change is concerned with unification of standards – a new handbook is to replace two previous ones (American and German). What is changed is approach to analysis, documenting method and the very risk assessment. FMEA initiates the planning stage based on 5T approach. There is a whole structure analysis based on division into particular components (system-subsystem-product-component).
It is important to note that search for causes in PFMEA, used by our experts before, in categories defined as 5M and known from Ishikawa has been formalized. There is Failure Chain (effect-fault-cause). RPN is no longer available, but instead we have AP (Action Priority) marking. These are just examples of changes – all of them will be discussed during the training prepared by PROQUAL experts, available soon.
