CQI-9 update – 4th edition
AIAG recently released 4 editions of the CQI-9 Special Process: Heat Treat System Assessment.
The update of the standard is to provide a common approach to the heat treatment management system.
CQI-9 covers heat treatment processes used in the automotive industry.
The most important changes in the 4th edition of the requirements:
- Introducing best practices.
- Requirements changes and modifications and their explanations for the delivery organization to be taken into account in the self-assessment.
- Refinement of the HTSA auditor qualification.
- Updated pyrometry reporting requirements.
- Transfer of the RTD to the thermocouple section.
- Defining transition periods in the calibration, SAT and TUS sections.
- The guidelines have been extended and the requirements have been refined for cases where traditional TUS testing is not possible or practical due to furnace design features (e.g. property testing).
- The formula for calculating the required number of TUS test thermocouples for large furnace volumes has been changed.
- The HTSA format has been improved.
- The requirement for calibration for clerks has been removed.
